Kathmandu : India take on Bangladesh in a crucial ICC World Twenty20 contest in Bangalore on Wednesday. India are placed fourth in the points table and need a convincing win over Bangladesh to improve their Net Run Rate. Bangladesh, on the other hand, are on the verge of being knocked out of the event and a win would go a long way in giving them a mathematical chance of making the last- four stage. However, their chances of making it to the semis looks all but over even if they beat India.
If India beat Bangladesh and Australia beat Pakistan on 25th March then the India-Australia face-off on March 27 in Mohali will be a virtual quarter-final, with the winner getting to play in the semi-final. A victory in Wednesday's Super 10 Group 2 match would take the hosts a step closer to the coveted semifinal berth and the team would look to ensure that it wins big to improve its Net Run Rate, which took a hit owing to the New Zealand loss.
Bangladesh all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan on Tuesday said Virat Kohli is the key player for India, but his team cannot take other batsmen lightly either as they are all match-winners.In contrast, Bangladesh, who have lost both their matches, are looking for answers as to what has gone wrong for them after a fine build-up.
