New Zealand beats hosts India by 47 runs

Hosts and favourites India were humbled by New Zealand in their opening game of the World Twenty20, and in the unlikeliest of circumstances. They were bowled out for 79 on a wicked turning surface in Nagpur, flummoxed by New Zealand’s battery of spinners while chasing down a seemingly innocuous target of 127.

Opting to bat first, New Zealand posted 126-7 in the Group Two contest on a prodigiously turning track at Nagpur’s VCA Stadium, seemingly a below-par total against the host nation who are famed for their proficiency against spin bowling.
New Zealand restricted to 126/7 in the opening match of the World Twenty20 against India at the Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium here on Tuesday.
New Zealand won the toss and they elected to bat first, the decision taken by young captain of New Zealand Kane Williamson on the pitch conditions behalf. Corey Anderson is the only man who played some responsible innings with careful attitude.
Although it was an excellent showoff by the Indian bowlers as batsmen in black caps set the target of 127 runs.
